Privacy Policy for Tikiri
Effective Date: August 6, 2026
Applies to: the Tikiri app on the Apple App Store (iOS) and on Google Play (Android).
Overview
Tikiri ("the App") is a Sinhala app for children, made by a single independent developer. I am committed to protecting your privacy, especially the privacy of children. This policy explains what data the App collects, and what it does not.
Information I Collect
I do not collect any personal information.
Tikiri does not:
Require you to create an account or sign in
Collect your name, email address, or any other personal information
Access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or any other device feature beyond local storage
Your settings and progress (such as the age mode, the chosen helper language, sound and volume preferences, and which decks you have opened) are stored only on your device. They do not leave your device and are not accessible to me.
Analytics
Tikiri does not use analytics or usage-tracking services. I do not receive usage data or device information from the App.
Please note that Apple and Google collect their own diagnostic and crash information at the operating system and store level, under their own privacy policies and under whatever sharing settings you have chosen on your device. That reporting is aggregated and does not identify individual users to me.
Advertising
As of the effective date above, Tikiri does not display advertising, and contains no advertising SDK.
If that changes, I will update this section and this policy's effective date before any advertising appears in the App, and I will keep any advertising in Tikiri non-personalised: served on the basis of the app's own content rather than on any profile of the person using it.
Optional Tips
Tikiri is free, and everything in it is included at no cost. There is an optional "tip jar" that lets grown-ups leave a small thank-you tip. It is completely optional, is never required, and unlocks nothing.
Tips are handled entirely by the app store you installed from: Apple's In-App Purchase system on iOS, and Google Play Billing on Android. That store processes the payment. I do not see or receive your name, your payment details, or any other personal information from a tip. Leaving a tip needs an internet connection. Each store's handling of purchases is governed by its own privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
Tikiri is made for users of all ages, including children under 13, and I treat it as child-directed regardless of the category it is listed under on either store.
I do not collect personal information from any user. The App is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and for families in the EU and the UK I apply the same standard under the GDPR provisions covering children's data. Any optional tip is an in-app purchase that goes through your device's normal purchase controls, so parents can manage or restrict purchases in their device settings.
I encourage parents and guardians to read this policy and to write to me with any questions.
Data Storage and Security
All app data (your settings and progress) is stored locally on your device. I have no access to it. If you delete the App, the data it stored is removed from your device with it.
How the App Uses the Internet
The App's content, including all of the audio and artwork, works fully offline. Tikiri needs an internet connection only when you choose to leave an optional tip (handled by Apple or Google), and when you tap a link that opens outside the App, such as the support email or the Instagram page.
Third-Party Services
Tikiri does not use third-party analytics or tracking services. The only third-party interaction in the App is the store's purchase system, and only if you choose to leave an optional tip. Opening an external link, such as Instagram, takes you to that service, which has its own privacy policy.
Changes to This Policy
If I update this policy, I will post the new version here with a revised effective date. If a change is a significant one, such as the introduction of advertising, I will make that clear in the App as well as here rather than relying on this page alone.
